Student Accomplishments

Tessa Vesco

Tessa Vesco, a local resident and student at Fairbanks High School, competed very successfully in the All American Youth Horse show held May 15th through 18th, 2009, at the Ohio State Fairgrounds. She competed in the hunter and equitation divisions on Avalon’s Lyonesse, an appendix quarter horse mare owned by Shadowfax Matrix and Avalon Farm. Tessa and Lyonesse have been a force to be reckoned with for a couple of years now, competing and placing in many hunter / jumper shows including the Ohio State fair 4-H horseshow. Tessa is an avid 4-H Member and an accomplished equestrienne. She and Lyonesse train at Avalon Farm, home of the Stirrup Some Fun 4-H Club, just outside of Marysville in Unionville Center.

A Union County first!

Chelsea Fauver and Smantha Perry represented Union County at the Ohio State Fair 4-H Horseshow in the Dressage division. They are the first young riders from Union County to ever quality for this honor. Chelsea and her Connemara / QH gelding, Windson Kutter (Kody), and Smanatha with her QH gelding, Dark’s Money Man (Jag), hit the show road with Central Ohio Riding / Avalon Farm in the spring, and showed quite successfully in open and young rider Dressage Competitions. This earned them scores that qualified them to represent their county at the state competition.

Salute to your girls for your hard work and training in a very competitive sport. They inished the competition by placing 3rd and 4th at training level.

Erika Thomas

A senior at Jonahthan Alder High School, and her horse Eyes All Alone (Patriot), competed quite successfully at the All American Youth Horseshow held at the Ohio State Fairgrounds on May 15th through the 18th. Patriot is a twenty hear old thoroughbred gelding that Erika competes with in jumping competitions. They haven’t actively been competing lately due to some health issues suffered by Patriot. Since Erika will not be able to compete at this show next year because of her age, she decided to see if Patriot had one more show in him. Did he ever! Patrio won all of the jumping classes offered and walked away with the grand championship. Erika and Patriot train at Avalon Farm just outside of Plain City and hope to continue their winning relationship for many years to come.
